TERMITES

This is a special section in Extermination, and we should pay special attention to it. termites are the only ants that literally eat wood, as opposed to other ants, like carpenter ants, that actually burrow into wood.

Thy are underground insects, and live under the soil for most of their lives, except when mating, in the sexual stage, where they are dark in color and winged. They are generally white in color and very minute, ranging from 2 to 5 mm in length. They live deep down around 8-12 feet below and even as deep as 20-25 feet in some cases, depending on the soil. The colonies are very numerous, between 5 and 20 million insects.

Pretreatment for new homes :

It is performed in 3 different stages of construction.

1) When the foundations are finished.

2)When the floor of the basement is finished.

3)When the backfill (dirt) is in place around the foundation walls on the outside.

House treatment :

A house that has a confirmed termite infestation should be treated as follows:

Drilling around the outside perimeter, holes of about 2 feet in depth, and injecting termiticide in every hole. These holes are about 30-40 cm apart (1ft. - 1 1/3 ft.)The inside perimeter of the basement has to be drilled as well, and also partition walls on each side. There is a 1-year guarantee and yearly treatments are also available. at a fraction of the initial cost.

Termite inspection :

Are available, to extend the guarantee for another year (houses recently treated) or when buying a house, to have peace of mind you are not buying a house with a termite problem. certificates are issued upon request.
